Race for the Cure 2016: 11 years and going strong! I am forever grateful for my health, family and friends. I will never forget what I went through and will always look forward to each and every birthday and Survivor anniversary.
Sadly, there is still not a cure, but the treatments are more targeted and are effectively extending lives. I had more reconstructive surgery last September to remove scar tissue and to replace my implants with a more modern style. I feel so much better; the tightness and pain are gone.
We can't let cancer win and must continue to raise funds for research, as well as raise awareness so that cancer is detected early. We need to perform self breast exams and be proactive when something doesn't feel or look right.
I would love to have you join the Fighting Ligers this year, or make a donation in my honor. I strongly believe that we can all make a difference and save lives.
Why Komen? I strongly believe they are a wonderful organization that is fully committed to ending Breast Cancer. It was Komen's monthly check reminders that led me to discover my pea-size lump. Early detection is the key to survivorship and I am a Survivor thanks to Komen. I am here and grateful for my family, friends, and each and every day.
Please join the Fighting Ligers on Race day or make a donation in my honor.
We Will Find the Cure! Some Day This Will Only be a Race.
